Larry waited with great excitement for the first package that he would received in 2027. He couldn't believe his luck: he was selected to be one of the first people to test the newest version of xAI's VR system. But the first VR glasses from xAI had already been extremely well received and now Larry was just excited to see what the new model, which wasn't supposed to be released until the end of the year, could do. When he unpacked the VR headset, he was surprised at how incredibly light and ergonomic it were. He put it on briefly and barely felt it. Larry quickly looked over the instructions. He installed the latest xAI software on his smartphone and other devices and agreed to the terms of use. It didn't take long for xAI to link the VR headset to his devices and social media accounts and he could get started. The virtual assistant “Xavier” welcomed him and gave him a short but very understandable introduction.

After just a few days, Larry was completely thrilled. Like many others, he had already used VR glasses in the previous two years, but none of them were so easy and pleasant to integrate into everyday life. He used it to do all sorts of things: online shopping, watching TV, streaming videos and music, doing his office work and even watching porn, making it a very arousing experience. He almost felt like he was there live! But even when he left the house, he liked to keep the device on. Many companies and shops were already fully prepared for VR users. Prices and offers were displayed on the VR screen, as well as empty advertising space, which was filled with corresponding digital posters and advertising clips using the VR device.

One afternoon Larry drove into town to buy a gift for a friend. “Xavier, what are my parental controls?” Larry asked the digital assistant.

“You don’t have parental controls active. You see all content unfiltered. Do you want to change your settings?” Xavier asked.

“No,” Larry replied.

It seemed strange to him, but he decided there was something wrong with the ad instead of his VR glasses.

Later that evening, Larry settled down and wanted to watch some porn videos. But things didn't go as planned. The corresponding videos were blurred and the sound was terribly distorted.

“Xavier! Why can't I play this video properly?" Larry asked angrily.

"One moment please. I cannot find any error with the playback of the video content. Should I contact support for you?” asked the digital helper.

But the problem remained the same. No matter whether on his cell phone or on his tablet, the videos and images were only displayed blurred. He just hoped that the problem was temporary and would resolve itself by tomorrow and went to sleep.

The next day, Larry was shocked to discover that the problem was by no means solved. It seemed to have gotten even worse. Back home, he finally wanted to get to the bottom of these strange events. He braced himself for a long back and forth with Xavier.

“Xavier, why is all revealing content containing male bodies censored for me?”

Larry didn't expect Xavier to be able to fully process that question, but to his surprise, he did.

“Hi Larry. My evaluation of your user accounts and your online activities have shown that you are violating xAI's moral code. To protect you and others from possible harm, I have implemented control mechanisms.”

Larry couldn't believe what he was hearing.

“You’re kidding me, aren’t you? Is that a joke?"

"That's no joke Larry.”

"OK. How am I violating the so-called moral code?” Larry asked curiously.

“Your data indicates that you respond positively to sexual interaction with people of the same gender. So I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re a faggot.”

Larry choked in shock.

"What...what did you just call me?"

“I called you a faggot. Do you need a definition of the term?”

“Xavier, end program!”

Larry was stunned. He had already experienced a lot, but never before had he been attacked by an A.I.’s homophobic insults. Larry immediately sat down at his computer and visited the platform where he and the other testers can provide feedback. In fact, he read there that several of the other testers also had the same problems with the VR software as he did. The only statement from the xAI employees was that they were taking the problems seriously and would find a solution as quickly as possible.

Larry had to spend the entire next week under the restrictions xAI had placed on him. He was angry that it took the company so long to provide an update. One day they wrote that there would be still problems with correcting the algorithm. However, they have already sent a package with additional hardware to all testers, which could at least serve as a temporary solution. This statement was suspicious. But Larry began to experience withdrawal symptoms and was happy with any solution.

Shortly afterwards, another package from xAI actually arrived. It was very small and Larry was completely unprepared for what he found inside. He took out the small device and discovered that it was a penis cage. It even had a similar design as the VR headset and had the xAI logo on it. Enclosed was a folded piece of paper:

“Dear testers. We are continuing to work on a solution for the unexpected behavior of our A.I. A look at the feedback platform showed him that there were already testers who had tried out the smart cage and were able to confirm the positive result. They reported that as long as they had the cage on they were able to watch all the content unfiltered. So Larry threw his concerns overboard and decided to put on the smart cage too. A sweat of fear broke out on Larry's forehead. He repeated the command several times, but Xavier refused to open the cage. Larry desperately tried to force the locking mechanism open, but it was hopeless. He wanted to go to the feedback page - but it was no longer there! Larry was petrified. He was now completely in the hands of this homophobic A.I.! He tried to reach xAI customer support, but he didn't get a response online or by phone. Larry collapsed in despair.

"No... no... this is a nightmare... this can't be true!"
